On July 4th, over 55,000 participants gathered near Lenox Square in Atlanta, Georgia to take part in what has become a city-wide tradition. The Peachtree Road Race, put on by the Atlanta Journal Constitution was, until recently, the largest 10K race in the world, with 55,000 runners. Nevertheless, the sunny heat didn’t stop over 150,000 fans from packing the sidewalks for the 6.2 miles from start to finish and cheering on the participants.
This year, Planet Smoothie set up tents on the sidelines of the Peachtree Road Race and cheered on runners as they approached the hill at the halfway point, famously dubbed Cardiac Hill by race veterans. The Planet Smoothie tent included both an MC to engage the crowd and The Bull radio station to further promote the event. Volunteers handed out over 5,000 samples of our new Pink Promise Smoothie to cool down the crowd and race participants. Planet Smoothie t-shirts, coupons and other promotional items were also a huge hit with the crowd!
